Meet the person you’ll be supporting:
- What challenges do I have? I have been involved in a RTA and therefore have an Acquired Brain Injury. I am a wheelchair user, but I do like to try and be as independent as possible, so do not need support with personal care. Because of my accident, I can also challenge my staff sometimes.
- What activities do I like to do? I like to get out into my local community, and I a friendly towards members of the public and like to approach them. This can put me at risk, so is something my staff team support me with. I am a big football fan, and like to watch matches often. I also go on days out to things like bowling and visiting the Pier Head.
- How would I describe myself? I am a funny, confident man who likes to tell jokes and have banter with the people who support me. I work best with strong characters who can get involved in my jokes.
My team
- How many people support me at one time? I am supported on a 1:1 at all times.
- What shift patterns do my team do? My shift patterns are 8.45am to 11pm, with staff sleeping over and finishing the next morning at 9am.
- Members of my current team have been supporting me for several years, and know my routines well, so you will get a full introduction and be well supported.

Our company strongly values internal progression, fostering a culture where our team are empowered to grow, develop their skills, and advance their careers. Hear from some of our current staff members who have climbed the career ladder in care:
Jo Watson, Senior Complex Care Case Officer: "After working in infection control and rehab settings, I joined Amore as a Support Worker to provide 1-1 care for a gentleman with complex care needs, including autism and learning disabilities. It was a bit daunting at first, but the feedback you get and the support you receive from your co-workers and managers really helps you settle down. After a while, an opportunity arose where I was asked if I wanted to be a Senior Complex Care Case Officer I threw my name into the ring and here I am! It's very different from 1-1 care, since I'm surrounded by people. We have so many departments within the building, but it's not compartmentalised. We're all together and one big family!"
