Job description

Amore Complex Care are looking for engaging support worker's, to assist a gentleman in his 50s who has full capacity, and would like to be able to get out into the community more. You could be visiting sports and music events whilst supporting, or engaging with the client's interests whilst at home - he has a passion for cooking, enjoys playing board games, or just having a good conversation.

We are looking for candidates who can engage with the person supported, and help encourage him to rediscover his hobbies and interests. An important part of this role will involve driving a Motability vehicle.

What makes Amore Complex Care a great place to work:

  • Hourly pay of £11.50 an hour, and paid sleep-ins.
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of statutory bank holidays (for full time, part time is worked out on a pro-rate basis)
  • Ongoing continued professional development and progression opportunities by funding Health and Social care diplomas and NVQs
  • Get paid for your training and induction with us
  • Enrol in our great pension program after 3 months with us
  • Referral bonus scheme – earn up to £250 for every successful referral
  • No uniform - we wear our casual clothes
  • We will pay for your DBS
  • This role does not involve travel between multiple sites during one shift. Spend your whole shift with the person you support, making the biggest impact on their lives

Meet the person you'll be supporting

  • Who am I and what challenges do I have? I am a gentleman in my 50s. I have cerebral palsy, which affects my mobility. I use an electric wheelchair to help me move around.
  • What types of people do I get along with? People who encourage my hobbies and interests, and might be interested in getting involved with them. I do also like my own space sometimes, but will always communicate this clearly. Once I get on with someone, the days can fly by, so I would like if me and my staff team can work towards this.
  • What are my interests? I love making homemade, tasty food and would like to diversify my cooking skills and knowledge. I would love staff to get involved with this and help me with it. I play chess, board games and like to challenge myself with these. I like to chat and discuss things and have an open and curious mind.
  • How would I describe myself? Outgoing, easy to get along with, and open to all people. I am welcoming, and a good communicator, and this means I can form positive relationships with the people who work with me.
  • What activities do I do? I have been spending a lot of time indoors and would like to get out more: I have a Motability Minivan that I use to do this. I would like to visit sports events (golf, cricket and snooker in particular), music concerts, and be more sociable with family and friends.

Key things to consider when applying:

  • Being a confident driver with a clean driving license is essential.
  • Applications with limited experience will be considered, as this role is equally about personality and values.
  • This role involves supporting on a 1:1 basis, and the shifts are long days.

As a company we are unable to offer sponsorship for overseas candidates. Applicants must have proof of right to work in the UK. It is a requirement to provide an overseas police check dated within the last 3 months of being in the UK; if you have been outside of the UK for longer than a year in the last 10 years.

If you have any questions about this role, or would like to find out about some of our other support worker vacancies, please email amy.steele-crothers@amore-group.co.uk, or phone 07496899911.

Our company strongly values internal progression, fostering a culture where our team are empowered to grow, develop their skills, and advance their careers. Hear from some of our current staff members who have climbed the career ladder in care:

Jo Watson, Senior Complex Care Case Officer: "After working in infection control and rehab settings, I joined Amore as a Support Worker to provide 1-1 care for a gentleman with complex care needs, including autism and learning disabilities. It was a bit daunting at first, but the feedback you get and the support you receive from your co-workers and managers really helps you settle down. After a while, an opportunity arose where I was asked if I wanted to be a Senior Complex Care Case Officer I threw my name into the ring and here I am! It's very different from 1-1 care, since I'm surrounded by people. We have so many departments within the building, but it's not compartmentalised. We're all together and one big family!"
