World Thrombosis Day

It is startling that 1 in 4 people worldwide are dying from conditions caused by Thrombosis. Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), also known as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), is a type of Thrombosis in which a blood clot forms in a deep vein.
Those that are in hospital for an extended period are at a higher risk of developing deadly blood clots. That is why right now, it is more important then ever to ensure we have our #EyesOpenToThrombosis, with research illustrating a high rate of VTE within Covid-19 patients that have been hospitalized.
Here at the Amore Group, VTE is a condition close to our hearts. Our Director, Gareth Potsig, has previously raised money for Thrombosis UK when completing the Great North Run. He is also honoured to have been successfully allocated 1 of the 3 spaces in the London Marathon to represent Thrombosis UK. Despite the Marathon being postponed until next year, Gareth has been training very hard and although not wanting to do the full distance until the day, Gareth recently ran 22 miles in which the Amore Group have donated £5 for every mile to Thrombosis UK.
If you would like to make a donation to Thrombosis UK to help educate professionals and the public on the tell-tale signs of VTE and how to prevent VTE from occurring, then please visit https://thrombosisuk.org/donate.php today.
VTE is the number 1 cause of PREVENTABLE deaths in hospital. That is why as an organization we have also signed a pledge to agree to ask healthcare professionals about the risks, take signs seriously and ensure we accurately understand the preventative measures available to help reduce the risk of VTE. To make your own pledge, please visit https://www.worldthrombosisday.org/pledge/.
Remember, it is important to SPEAK OUT, and not be afraid to ask hospital staff on the risks to you or a loved one… who knows, it might just save a life. 💚
