The text reads "A space that just makes sense!". The backgriound is a shot of a wide area of the client's sensory room, with texture panels and a light feature visible. On the left hand side is a few 'zoomed in' icons with smaller images of other areas of the room, the top image of floor tiles, the middle bubble fish tank, and the bottom image of stepping stones.

International Day of Disabled Persons

For the International Day Of Persons With Disabilities, we’re showing off a space that just makes sense.

Recently, one of our amazing teams of support workers transformed a spare room in one of our service user’s homes into a calming, sensory-rich space designed just for her needs.

With guidance from our Positive Behavioural Support Lead, Jasmine Wood, and the hard work of the support team, the room now features:

  • Textured tiles that are perfect for exploring through touch, providing soothing sensations.
  • Stepping-stone floor tiles to make movement fun and help with focus.
  • A bubble fish tank that creates a relaxing atmosphere with gentle lights and mesmerising bubbles.

Sensory rooms like this make a world of difference.

They can:

  • Reduce anxiety and overstimulation.
  • Help with emotional regulation and focus.
  • Provide a safe, comforting environment to unwind and feel at ease.

A huge thank you to everyone at Amore Complex Care who brought this sensory room project to life, going the extra mile to support our client. Seeing how much joy and comfort this space is already bringing her makes us so proud to have you all on our team.
